The Scriptures
We believe that the Holy bible was written by men divinely
inspired, and is a perfect treasure of heavenly instruction; that it has God
for its author, salvation for its end, and truth without any mixture of
error for its matter; and there, is the true center of Christian union, and
the supreme standard by which all human conduct, creeds, and opinions should
be tried. II Tim. 3:16-17; II Peter 1:21.
The True God
We believe in one true and living God, in whom there are three
persons, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, executing distinct but harmonious
offices, yet equal in every divine perfection and holiness. We believe
that Jesus Christ is both perfect God and perfect man being born of the
virgin Mary and resurrected bodily from the dead; and that the Holy Spirit
is an infinite, intelligent being whose ministry is to make effective the
Word of God in the hearts of man. I John 5:7; Matt. 28:19; Isa. 7:14;
Matt. 1:20-23; John 14:26; John 16:13.
The Doctrine of Man
We believe that man was created in the image of God, that he sinned
and thereby incurred not only physical death, but also spiritual death which
is separation from God; and all human beings are born with a sinful nature,
and become sinners in thought, word, and deed. Gen. 1:27; Isa. 59:2;
Romans 5:12-19.
Divine Plan of Salvation
We believe that salvation is the gracious and unmerited gift of God
which is received when one, by an act of will, places his faith in Jesus
Christ as his personal Lord and Savior, accepting as true and faithful the
promises of the Bible that assure us of eternal life and fellowship with God
on condition of this faith. We believe the Bible teaches that no
amount of religious or moral works can help us to attain eternal life; but
faith alone transfers us from that state where we are by nature; children of
wrath, to that whereby we are members of His divine family, objects of His
love and mercy, heirs of God and joint-heirs with Christ. Involved in
God’s divine plan of salvation is the act of repentance, a change of heart
attitude whereby one turns away from his unbelief and indifference to God
and embraces the Biblical faith, which is not a condition to, but an
essential part of saving faith. Salvation is that process wherein the
Holy Spirit, operating through the Word of God, begets a new nature of faith
in the individual believer, declares the believer righteous in God’s sight
due to the substitutionary merits of Christ’s death and proceeds to change
the believer into the likeness of Christ through persistent renewal of faith
and obedience to the Lordship of Christ. Eph. 2:1-8[-10]; Rom.
10:17; 3:21-26; 4:3-5; John 3:3-8, [16]18; II Cor. 3:17-18; 5:17, 21; I
Peter 1:23; Titus 3:5.
Christian Baptism
We believe the Scriptures teach that Christian Baptism is the
immersion in water of a believer in Christ in the name of the Father, Son
and Holy Spirit. We believe that immersion symbolizes our
identification with Christ in His death, burial, and resurrection.
Acts 2:41; 8:36-38; Rom. 6:3-5.
The Lord’s Supper
We believe the Scriptures teach that the Lord’s Supper is an
observance and an acknowledgement of Christ’s suffering and death; and
believers in Jesus Christ as Lord and savior are instructed to participate
in this remembrance until he comes. Luke 22:19; I Cor. 11:23-28.
Corporate Worship
Recognizing that we are to worship our Lord daily, we as a body of
the Church of Christ have chosen to meet corporately for worship on Sunday.
Hebrews 10: 25.
Assurance of Believers
We believe that the redeemed are kept by God’s power and are secure
in Christ forever and their persevering attachment to Christ is the mark
that distinguishes them from superficial professors. I Peter 1:5; John
10:27-29; I John 5:11-13.
The Church
We believe that the Scriptures teach that a visible Church of
Christ is a congregation of baptized believers associated by covenant in the
faith and fellowship of the Gospel. Acts 2:41-47.
Things to Come
We believe in “that blessed hope” the
personal pre-tribulational, pre-millennial return of our Lord and Savior
Jesus Christ. We believe in the resurrection of the saved to eternal
blessedness and the unsaved to everlasting conscious punishment in hell.
Titus 2:13-14; I Thess. 4:16-18; John 5:28-29; Rev. 20:4-6, 11-15.
